NOTICE is hereby given, pursuant to Article 41, section 1660, paragraph 11 of the State Vehicle & Traffic Law that ALL Town roads in the Town of Albion, Oswego County, NY, are temporary closed to any vehicle with gross loads in excess of 6 tons. Under this restriction, effective not less than ten (10) days after publication, NO vehicle with gross weight in excess of 6 tons will be permitted to operate on Town roads in the Town of Albion until the end of May 2026.

The Fisheries & Oceans Canada, in partnership with the Great Lakes Fishery Commission, plans to conduct a sea lamprey control treatment on the Salmon River (Lewis/Oswego County), Grindstone Creek (Oswego County), Little Sandy Creek (Oswego County), Black River (Jefferson County).

These treatments will be from May to June for (Salmon River, Grindstone Creek & Little Sandy Creek. August to September for (Black River, Little River & Fish Creek).

During the treatment, you may notice sea lamprey control field crews working along the stream or see temporary red or green coloration in the water. The colors come from non-toxic dyes used to monitor stream water flow so that precise concentrations of lampricides can be achieved during treatment. The lampricide treatment itself will tint the water slightly yellow, will flush from the system once the treatment ends, and dilutes & degrades to non-detectable levels shortly after the treatment ends.

As a precaution, agricultural irrigation from the treated sections of the stream should be suspended at the start of the treatment until24 hours after it concludes, & anyone holding bait fish or other aquatic organisms in stream water should use an alternate water source during this time.

The Town of Albion Town Board will hold a Public Hearing on the Town’s draft Comprehensive Plan at 6:00 pm, on Tuesday, July 14th at the Altmar/Albion Municipal Building, 15 Bridge St., Altmar, NY. The Comprehensive Plan identifies goals, objectives and policies for the immediate and long-range protection, enhancement, and development of the community. The plan, developed in a series of public meetings, will form the framework for the town’s land use and subdivision regulations and is intended to guide the decisions of the Town board. Copies of the draft Comprehensive Plan are available at the Town Clerk’s office and online at https://townofalbion-ny.us.

Oswego County – Are you interested in bringing an evidence-based health workshop to your community organization? Oswego County residents and organizations can contact the Oswego County Health Department to bring a “Living Well” workshop or presentation to your community at no cost.

“Living Well” is a series of interactive classes that occur weekly. Each workshop is facilitated by a trained lifestyle coach.

“Living Well” workshop topics include: Diabetes Self-Management (once a week for six weeks); Chronic Pain Self-Management (choice of once or twice a week for six weeks); Chronic Disease Self-Management (once a week for six weeks); Cancer Thriving and Surviving (once a week for six weeks); Stepping-On Fall Prevention (once a week for seven weeks).

In addition to the “Living Well” series, the health department offers free presentations on various health related topics, such as immunizations and communicable disease, summer safety, tick-borne and mosquito-borne disease, “rethink your drink” and more.

The department also offers evidence-based suicide prevention classes with special focuses available by request for seniors and caregivers, members of the LGBTQ+ community and firearm owners. Learn about recognizing signs of mental health crises, how to talk about mental health in general and receive access to local resources.

Naloxone (Narcan) training is also available through the health department. Naloxone is a life-saving medication that can reverse the effects of an overdose. The training is short, flexible and built to fit your schedule. Each participant receives a free naloxone kit.

“Living Well” workshops and Naloxone trainings can be hosted in person or virtually based on your community’s needs.

National Grid is proposing to increase its electrical delivery revenues by approximately $525 million (20% increase). It also proposes to increase its gas delivery revenues by approximately $148 million (28% increase). The proposed new rates would be monthly increase to electric = $18.92 and monthly increase to gas = $18.34.
